PortalProdigy Adds Google Site Maps

Robbinsville, NJ – September 16, 2009 -  PortalProdigy adds Google Site Maps feature.  Brock Miller, Chief Technology Officer of Portal Prodigy, Inc. explains the new feature: “The addition of Google Site Maps benefits our customers because it guarantees that their important web pages will be indexed by the major search engines including Google, MSN and Yahoo.  They work like this.  Google Site Maps are files containing hyperlinks (URLs) to the web pages that you want indexed.  The site maps are based on a protocol that was developed by Google and adopted by the major search engines.  Our product, PortalProdigy, automatically creates these site maps for you.  When the search engine spiders crawl your website they are directed to read the site map and index all the pages (URLs) that are listed in the site map.  We also added the ability to create simple URLs that replace our more cryptic URLs.  This provides two benefits.  The first benefit is that it can help to increase your search engine rankings by using keywords in the URLs.  The second benefit is that some search engine spiders have trouble with cryptic URLs and using simple URLs eliminates this problem.  PortalProdigy also includes a number of other nifty tools to optimize your website for the search engines.  The addition of Google Site Maps is part of our goal to help you drive more traffic to your website.”

The Google Site Maps feature is available in PortalProdigy version 4.01 and above.
