Appendix B Available Components in Collection Manager

The following components (mini browsers) are currently available for placement in each of the page sections including the Header, Home Page Main Content, Left Side Bar, Right Side Bar and Footer.  You place them in a section using the Collection Manager for the applicable section.  We are continuously adding new components to PortalProdigy so this list may not include every component that is available in the version of PortalProdigy that you are using.  The applicability of a component to a specific section is highly dependent on the components style as well as the section’s style where it is being placed. The best method to determine the applicability is to experiment.  PortalProdigy makes it easy to experiment.

 

  • Currency – inserts a Currency Conversion tool that customers can use to view prices for different currencies.  Currency exchange (conversion) rates are entered using Countries and Exchange Rates Features Management which can be accessed from the Site Administration Features Menu.  The currency conversion tool is typically placed in the header or in a side bar.  Limit to one Currency Conversion tool per page.

  • Custom Structured – inserts a mini browser containing content created using Mini Browser Builder. Mini Browser Builder is a quick way to create content with pictures, text, and hyperlinks.  Mini Browser Builder can be accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu. Custom Structured mini browsers are typically placed in the home page main content section and in side bars.  There is no limit to the number of Custom Structured mini browsers per page.

  • Custom Unstructured – inserts a mini browser containing custom content that you create using third party HTML Editors that or that you create using PortalProdigy’s HTML Document Editor.  Customer Unstructured mini browsers are styles. To create Custom Unstructured mini browsers got to Collection Manager.  Highlight Custom Unstructured which is listed in Available Components.  Click the Add Style button.  Use Style Manager to create the Custom Unstructured mini browser.  After saving and closing Style Manager, it will be listed as a style under Custom Unstructured in Available Components in Collection Manager.  Custom Unstructured mini browsers are typically placed in the home page main content section and in side bars.  There is no limit to the number of Custom Unstructured mini browsers per page.

  • Event – inserts an event mini browser that lists your five most current upcoming events. Each event can be clicked on to view the event’s details and to register for the event.  Also includes link to view all events.  Events are created and managed using Event Management which is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu.  Event mini browser is typically placed in the home page main content section or in a side bar.  Limit to one Event mini browser per page.

  • Greeting – inserts a greeting mini browser containing the content entered in the Greeting field located in Home Page Manager.  Home Page Manger is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu or from the home page using the hotkey Ctrl-Alt-H.  Greeting mini browser is typically placed in the home page main content section.  Limit to one Greeting mini browser per page.
  • Greeting Image & Title – inserts a greeting mini browser containing the content entered in the Greeting field located in Home Page Manager along with the image loaded in the Greeting Image field located in Home Page Manager.  Home Page Manger is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu or from the home page using the hotkey Ctrl-Alt-H.  Greeting mini browser is typically placed in the home page main content section.  Limit to one Greeting mini browser per page.

  • Login – inserts a mini browser login form that allows user to login using their login name and password.  This form is pre-built.  You can create modified versions using Style Manager.  E.g. you may want it to say “User Email” or “Member Email”, instead of “User Name”.  Login mini browser is typically placed in the in a side bar or header.  Limit to one Login mini browser per page.

 

  • News – inserts a news mini browser that lists your five most recent news articles. Each news article can be clicked on to view the complete news article.  Also includes link to view entire news article archive.  News articles are added and managed using News Management which is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu.  News mini browser is typically placed in the home page main content section or in a side bar.  Limit to one News mini browser per page.

  • Product Categories – inserts a product category mini browser that lists your Product Catalogs product categories.  Each category is a hyperlink to the page that lists the products corresponding to the category.  Product categories are created and managed using Products Catalog Management which is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu.  Product Categories mini browser is typically placed in a side bar.  Limit to one Product Categories mini browser per page.

  • Product Search – inserts a product search mini browser that users can use to search your product catalog by product keywords and product keyword categories.  Product Search options are configured in Product & Inventory Features Management which is accessed from the Features Menu.  Product keyword categories are created and maintained using Product Detail Categories Management which is accessed from Product & Inventory Features Management.  Product Search mini browser is typically placed in a side bar.  Limit to one Product Search mini browser per page.

  • Products – inserts a product mini browser to promote selected products. Products are selected for inclusion in the product mini browser by setting the Include in Mini Browser field in Item Management to Yes.  Item Management is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu.  Products mini browser is typically placed in the home page main content section.  Limit to one Product mini browser per page.

  • Quick Jump – inserts a drop down list box containing menu items.  Quick Jump menus are built using Menu Builder which is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu.  Quick Jump menus mini browser is typically placed in the header, footer, or side bar.  There is no limit to the number of Quick Jump menu mini browsers per page.

 

  • Resource – inserts a resources mini browser.  The resource mini browser may contain pictures representing the resource, descriptive text, and hyperlinks to access the resource.  Resources include any type of digital content loaded in the document library.  Resource items (documents) are selected for inclusion in the resource mini browser by setting the Include in Mini Browser field in Document Management to Yes. You may also load a picture for the resource in Document Management.  Document Management is accessed from the Site Administration Main Menu.  Resource mini browser is typically placed in the home page main content section.  Limit to one Resource mini browser per page.

  • Resource Search – inserts a resource search mini browser that users can use to search your resource (documents) library by categories and keywords.  Resource categories are created and maintained using Document Categories Management which is accessed from Document Features Management which is accessed from the Site Administration Features Menu.  Resource Search mini browser is typically placed in a side bar.  Limit to one Resource Search mini browser per page.

  • Shopping Cart – inserts a shopping cart mini browser that shows the total number of items and dollar amount in the customer’s shopping cart.  Includes a link to checkout.  Shopping Cart mini browser is typically placed in the header or in a side bar.  Limit to one Shopping Cart mini browser per page.

  • Site Search – inserts a site search mini browser that users can use to search your site by keywords.  You determine which feature record are included in searches such as Documents, Events, Products, etc. using the Include in Search option located on each Feature Management page.  Feature Management pages for each Feature are accessed from the Features Management Menu.  Site Search mini browser is typically placed in the header or in a side bar.  Limit to one Site Search mini browser per page.

  • Survey – inserts a survey mini browser forum allowing users to respond to questions or provide information.  Survey mini browsers are typically placed in the home page main content section and in side bars.  There is no limit to the number of Survey mini browsers per page.
  • Welcome – when a user is logged in, it inserts a welcome message to the user to the user on the home page that includes the user’s name.  The style for welcome mini browser can be modified to include First Name Only; First and Last Name; or Salutation plus First and Last Name.  Welcome mini browsers are typically placed at the top of the home page main content section.  Limit to one Welcome mini browser per page.
