Global Custom Values Management

Use to manage the global variable values that are used in Styles.  E.g. you may create a Global Custom Value (variable) for your organization’s Help Desk Phone Number that can be re-used throughout your website.  The Global Custom Value cvg#Logo1 is used to display your organization’s logo in page headers, on orders, invoices, etc.  Global Custom Values provide the ability to manage commonly used values from a single location.  When you change the value it is automatically updated everywhere it is used.

You cannot create variables for Global Custom Values using this page.  The variables are created as part of the style and component registration process.  This page is just used to manage the values assigned to existing variables.

Global Custom Values are created as THTML tags within styles.  They have the prefix CVG# followed by a name assigned by you.  When a style is created, the Components Verification process registers its Global Custom Values so they can be managed thereafter using Global Custom Values Management.

Global Custom Values are divided into three types:

  • Text – used to manage text values.
    • Name – the name of the Global Custom Value, e.g. cvg#HelpDeskPhone.
    • Value – the value to be displayed, e.g. (800) 595-HELP.
  • Files – used to manage files such as images that must be uploaded to your website.
    • Name – the name of the Global Custom Value, e.g. cvg#Logo1.
    • Source – after the file has been uploaded the file name is displayed here, e.g. PlaceForYourLogo.gif.
    • Upload File – use to upload an image file.
    • Width – use to enter the pixel width of the image.
    • Height – use to enter the pixel height of the image.
  • Links – used to manage hyperlinks.
    • Name – the name of the Global Custom Value, e.g. cvg#GoToHelpDesk
    • Caption – the text to be displayed as the hyper link in the page, e.g. Help Desk would be displayed as Help Desk.
    • Menu Item – the URL of the web page to go to when a visitor clicks on the hyperlink Caption.

Option Buttons:

  •  Save button – saves your changes.
  •  Cancel button – use to close the page.  For some unknown reason this page is missing a Close button so the Cancel button must perform double duty.  Use the Save button first to save your changes, then use Cancel to close the page.
